Plaster facades

The facade of the building is the business card of the house and its residents. The first thing that catches your eye is the exterior of the house. Facades (and outside walls) have different constructive styles and possibilities. One of the most popular ways is plastering.

Compared to the other facade solutions and materials plaster has a lot of assets: suitable products and solutions for completition of groundwork constructions including also complex facades. We can offer different structures, colors, durability and we can build quite quickly and simply.

What special tricks it is good to know about constructing and renovating plaster facadesFor new buildings the process is easier – due to the project the wall must have sufficient heat conductivity and the construction supervision is according to the requirements. During the construction process we can find the right solutions and materials. The most popular is SILS (thin plaster) – the insulation with styrofoam and its replastering (Serpo Term-system).
In the previous process we can use rigid glass-wool (Serpo Min- system). Soft wool can be used for insulation and plastering, but the last system compared to the two previous ones is a bit more complicated: fiber (lime) cement mixture is used for plastering /fiber net installation.

Plaster has a lot of advantages: there are suitable products and materials to use in complicated facades, a lot of different structures, color, durability – we can construct rather quickly and in the simple way.
In addition there are heating systems where insulation (styrofoam, wool) is covered with plaster:

Sils system

Thin plaster system (SILS) goes with the instructions of the producer. The main problem in constructing and renovating facades is usually that the subscriber (co-operative society, the owner of the house) has his wish to make the process better, but there are fewer means for that.

If you start to look for cheaper ways it doesn`t often work. When one stage is ignored, the mixture sheet is placed thinner than necessary, etc.At the first sight it may seem to be a chance, but in a longer perspective the result may turn inverse. The result may be half-done or unsuitable, the recently built or renovated building may fall apart and needs to be repaired. You have nobody to complain, no guarantee and hardly a two-year warranty period of the construction(if you have it) has passed. At the same time e.g. if you used four separate manufactures, no one can give you any guarantee, and when different materials were used together, a process phase was jumped over, the mixture has a thinner layer, etc.

Sure there are ready-made solutions where necessary components and the co-operation with the constructor goes up to a 10 year guarantee and the guarantee presumes to use proper materials in the right spot and the constructor is professional.

We would like to give you some hints that must be followed in constructing thin plaster (SILS). At first you have to decide whether to use styrofoam or wool for insulation. Stone buildings are easier to handle, you can use styrofoam or wool.

After buying a building you have to find out what is the carrying surface of the building and what has been used for insulation. In wooden buildings we prefer to use wool. The last practice shows that the customer chooses the thickness of the insulation, but it is wise to consult the project-planner/architect who calculates out the physical features of the outside wall.Renovating old buildings consult a specialist because it is important to choose the best way for additional insulation of the old wall.
