Plaster facades are nice when freshly completed, but in 4-5 years the first defects come out – micro cracks, unsteady temperature causes different damages and you have to repair in 5-6 years. When the facade plaster is coated in late autumn and doesn`t have enough time to get dry- in spring you can see loose layers that need to be remade.
Plaster facades get dirty during the time and need to be renovated in 10-15 years.
That`s why we recommend to make the facade cleaning every 4-5 years.
The figure below shows the facade that was finished 8 years ago and it needs the facade cleaning and refreshment. Sometimes it is difficult to realise that someting is wrong when it is dirty all over. The picture clearly illustrates the phenomenon.
There are many ways how to remove dust and dirt. But there are various damages and it is difficult to recommend any kind of universl method for doing it. The specialist can find the necessary way of cleaning – the reason depends on many complicated situations.
We offer two ways how to remove dust and dirt.:
- Clean using suitable means and instruments;
- If you can`t remove the dirt you can recoat it;

To fight against algae and fungus there are two ways to use – to avoid or prevent the area of distribution.:
1. To prevent the spread of algae and fungus means not to give them any kind of “food“ i.e. we use the suitable completition layer and if possible we encircle the moisture area on the facade e.g. the window sill must be covered with the plate over the edge;
2. In case of visible algae and fungus we prevent their zone by biocides. It needs a certain pre-work before renovation of tha facade and after that we use the right layer of elaboration.
Our experience shows that the cleaning/washing of the polluted area gives the guarantee only for a couple of years and still it ha its nuances.
When the groundwork has been done and coating the clean area the facade can last for 20 years ( it depends on the environment). The best result comes out from the correct and skilful preparatory work.
Facade Cleaning Of Wooden Buildings
The wooden facade needs careful maintenance. Wood is demanding material and needs to be taken care of especially renewing the elaboration. When wood falls apart we have to polish the entire surface and renew the elaboration. WHAT TO TAKE CARE OF ?
The sunny side needs more maintanance. When the south side has no shade the elaboration falls apart rather quickly. UV radiation eats the material between the wood fiber and it turns grey.
THE BEST WAY OF COATING
In the sunny side the paint wears out quickly. It must be maintained in every 5 years – the paint wears out twice as quickly as in the shady side.
The guarantee of the facade paint is 5 years. It depends on the sort, quality and eligibility of the paint. TThe durability of the paint differs a lot, it may last for 5-8 years or for 15 years.
The first inspection of the sky blue paint must be done in 1-3 years. The next stage (recoating) must be done in 3-4 years like the case is. But it can last longer.
During the first renovation period all the cracks must be coated and wood gets the additional layer. The danger of moisture will be liquidated and the paint protects the wood.
Different wood needs different paint. The most important thing is the volume of wood. Wood is the material with changing capacity.
The paint with good quality is a good protection, it is very essential. The paint with good quality protects the surface well, it doesn`t only give the suitable tint. The kinds of paints can be very different.
MANUFACTURED AND UNMANUFACTURED WOOD Too smooth wood (planed and polished) is not for facades because the paint sticks badly and is not long-lasting. Specialists use unmanufactured wood – it needs more paint, but as the result wood is better protected.
The inner side of the wood also needs to be taken care of. When constructers fix the boards with insufficient vent and coat on the inside surface the result is that in winter the unprotected side gets wet and the durability is short.
